Introducing Tripsd and artist from San Diego, CA who has been recording music with Dj Slay since 2012. In the past, Tripsd flew state to state and opened for some of the biggest names in the game such as the late great Nipsey Hussle, SchoolBoy Q, T.I. SXSW Music Festival, House of Blues and many more. Tripsd has also managed to grow his independent Label, Vizion Records with it’s umbrella apparel company, The Unknoticed. Tripsd just dropped his brand new EP Mrs Trip and what an amazing release of new music for his current and future fans alike. The EP opens with ‘Tequila’ setting the tone for the EP. However, by the time you get to Been so loyal, you start to understand that Tripsd is a one of kind unpredictable artists that you certainly cannot put in a box. My personal favourite track on the EP is Don’t Break me Down, this track really showcases Tripsd’s ability to escalate to an amazing level of songwriting and deliver key vocals to circle an amazing song. We decided to catch up with Tripsd for an exclusive interview with Camden Monthly.
What inspired you to get into music?
I was bullied through out grade school for my glasses & the way I looked. Music was the first aspect of acceptance I experienced that didn’t revolve around what I looked like, where I lived or how much money we didn’t have, it was about who I was. And I haven’t stopped expressing the real me, ever since.
How would you describe your music?
My music is, versatile and raw. I experienced judicial discrepancies, the loss of my Father, incarceration, loss of Love & spiritual growth. My music depicts the emotions, the lesson, the falls & rises of each Chapter.
What would you say is your recording and song writing style?
I write & record the same. When Slay & I make a beat, I allow the instrument vibrations to create the emotional ambience & concept before I write. Once each verse & chorus is perfected, we record all together.
Where would you like to see your music career in 5 years time?
In 5 years, we hope to expand our brand to not only get our name & message out, but to network & help other artists looking to grow. After all, we’re all we got.
