We previously featured BeckMilli and she is back this month with her brand new single ‘Do Road’ . She is continuing her mission to become a pivotal name in the London rap scene, with her sights firmly on national domination.
BeckMilli’s experience as a south-of-the-river rapper will be sure to do her well. Her unique, machine-gun vocals – intense, rolling, and unafraid – are going to change the way listeners appreciate the genre in the years to come.
Unfettered by commercial expectations, she’s set to bring her own stories – and style of telling them – to audiences across major streaming channels. Her music is undeniably catchy – but it’s the pace of her vocals, and the message in her lyrics – which are likely to resonate with modern audiences the most. Born Rebecca Aryee in 1989, BeckMilli is already turning the heads of road rap fans across the city. She’s proud of her south London roots, having moved there from a young age – but now is the time to truly take her music on the road. But what about influences? She has a broad palate and is inspired by some of music’s greats. Neo soul trailblazers such as Lauryn Hill – and soul legends in Luther Vandross – make up just a fraction of her vast listening. In fact, she’s just as likely to drive inspiration from sources as diverse as the kings of pop and rock n’roll – Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley. However, BeckMilli’s music, and delivery, are all her own. She’s streaming stories and songs which listeners are finding difficult to compare to any other leading voice. Consider an example. ‘Do Road’, a track which has caught fire with new fans of her work in recent times, is an incredible showcase of her songwriting talents. Expect to start listening to new collections across Apple Music, Spotify, Soundcloud, YouTube and more. What’s more, you’ll get the chance to experience her own unique brand of road rap through a forthcoming UK tour.
Continuing to work on a new mixtape, BeckMilli is quickly emerging as a road rap artisan many are keen to follow and listen to. We caught up with her again for a quick interview;
