What inspired you to get into music?
No one thing in particular. A passion and need to be creative was and is the main driving force. An obsession with music grew early on and I’d watch MTV for hours on end…

How would you describe your music?
It’s experimental dark, or alt’, pop. I mix synths, samples, and vocal production to make for an ambient space underpinned with massive drums. I try and create a space that envelopes the listener.

What would you say is your recording and songwriting style?
My studio is a custom-made, chrome Airstream caravan… I will go in there and just lose myself in the music. I work in the software Reason and have done since they had version 1, I think, way back. I will play with the drums and get an odd groove that I like and then start layering synths and samples on top. I normally write lyrics last but sometimes, they’ll come to me earlier in the process. I can sometimes steer toward mainstream structures and so I’m always asking myself, ‘is this strange enough?’. I always aim for an element of oddness and surprise.

Where would you like to see your music career in 5 years time?
I don’t care. I used to, but not anymore. I just have to make music. It’s like breathing for me and so a career is not even on my radar.
