Introducing Ghilaff a recording artist who last year released his EP titled (Before You ). Throughout the course of his musical career, Ghilaff has won over the hearts of music lovers from all walks of life. This year, Ghilaff is in the process of finalising the sequel of ‘Before You’ with the title confirmed as “WithU”. We were privy to one of the songs from this upcoming EP which has 6 tracks each track being based on a real-life situation. “Strip it Down” is catchy track which features Honeybeat and sees Ghilaff unleash his more hardcore romantic side. It’s a sexy number that will get anyone in the mood. With lyrics like “Been watching you from my red box, There is a folder on my laptop, Smoking blunt and i can’t stop. I need you, right here with me” . It is definitely raunchy and should have a PG rating attached to it. I also love Ghilaff’s comenback attack in the hook/chorus where he expands with lyrics such as “So you need to strip it down, strip it down. Girl you need to flip around flip around. Girl You need to strip it down strip it down”. Fellow collaborator ‘Honeybeat’ doesn’t let the side down adding the fuel needed to make the track a hit by stepping in with references to ‘whining and Palm wine’ (a sort of wine which is tapped from palm trees). The message is clear with this track. It is certainly a party starter. We are told the whole EP is all about different shades of love and life with each song based on a different mood. We decided to catch up with Ghilaff in the middle of his production lockdown to find out a little bit about the man behind the music.
What inspired you to get into music?
One thing that inspired me to get into music is my past life. I have had really bad experiences like I Was Bullied in School, I went through a Sudden Breakup and I’ve been betrayed and backstabbed by everyone I’ve been close to and I had two choices first was to end my life like some people do during there sad days or to take everything in a positive way I chose the second option and turned every negative energy or thought into a positive vibe with the help of my music.
How would you describe your music?
My music is not for everyone, I usually make deep sad songs it’s not because I can’t make commercial sounding tracks but it’s just because I wanna tell people what I been through how I managed my thoughts, what I did to get over my breakups, how I see the world from a different perspective. My music is all about telling people that whenever you feel sad or depressed just try to stay calm and focus on your big dreams be thankful for everything you got.
What would you say is your recording and songwriting style?
I’ve been writing since I was 13 years old and one thing I noticed about my songwriting style is that I can write about anything but as I said my style is deep so mostly I write and record stuff on real-life situations.
Where would you like to see your music career in 5 years?
Once upon a time, I was watching something on Netflix, it was a very inspirational musical film I don’t remember the name exactly but I remember what I said to my father after I watched “Dad your son gonna be the next big thing”. He smiled and said I know the good days are coming, keep working hard Since then I have only one dream to create something that people always remember I call myself legend and I know someday the entire world will see me like this.
Where can music fans listen to your music?
