Melt Pop, Trance, House, Glitch hop, and Dubstep, and you get GudX. GudX is a Ukrainian producer based in Washington DC debuted in early 2020 under the alias GudX, short for Good Times. The onetime pianist was introduced to music production in 2013 and has been chiselling away his craft ever since, combining unique elements of sound design, piano improvisation, and diverse techniques. The new project ‘Awake‘ is certainly as hard-hitting as it sounds and guaranteed to certainly get you awakened. Tracks like ‘Welcome to the Party’ set the scene by getting you in the mood of the project. The head bumping song is a great introduction to the world of GudX especially if you are introduced to this in the office. The song transports you right into the dance floor of your favourite club. I believe every DJ will want this on their playlist. ‘Dreamstate’ follows the same theme with a message emanating from the song that provokes the mind of many that might sometime be living life not fully woke some what get up out of the matrix. By the time we get to ‘Wake up’ the last single in the project, you start to get the perfectly tailored groove and messaging behind the heavy hitting songs. The album title ‘Awake’ starts to make sense and one more listen, leads to two, and then, three and then once you are fully awake. ‘Awake’ the album becomes the album on repeat in your spotify.
We decided to catch up with GudX for an exclusive interview on Camden Monthly.
What inspired you to get into music?
Music is one of my biggest passions. I grew up playing piano and drums and fell in love with the production side, often getting lost in newly discovered plugins. Jamming out allows us to express ourselves beyond words.
How would you describe your music?
My music tends to be high energy, sprinkled with minimal vocals, yet full of emotion. While I grew up on Trance, House, and Hip Hop. Some newer styles and artists like Seven Lions and Virtual Riot have caught my interest. I absolutely love music and have made music varying from Rock, DnB, and cinema.
What would you say is your recording and song writing style?
One of my top strengths as a musician is my ability to improvise on the piano so I typically start jamming around (seen on my instagram @GudXMusic) and find the right vibe. I’ll record the loop and expand the energy with a few beat options or sub to help me get to where I picture it. A few years back I would work on projects throughout 10-20 sittings, now I make 50-80% of my track in the first sitting and fine tune them a few more sessions.
Where would you like to see your music career in 5 years time?
GudX looks forward to growing his team, brand, and catalogue to promote good times and good vibes on a larger scale.
Where can music fans listen your music?
GudX projects can be found on all digital streams. If you’re curious to see what i’m up to, find me on Instagram, FB, or Twitter @GudXMusic.
