Speranța Moraru is a composer and pianist. She composes music for solo piano in classical and classical crossover genre. She was born on October 20th 1988 in the Republic of Moldova. Her name ‘’Speranța’’ means Hope. At eight years old, she went to study piano at professionally at a conservatoire. Her love for music and composition came from her childhood, even though none of her family members were musicians. Her father is an engineer, and taught electromechanical engineering until he retired. Her mother was a college maths teacher, who is now also retired. She has two older sisters, three nephews, and two nieces.
Speranța speaks 3 languages: Russian, Romanian and English. Romanian is her mother tongue. In 2014 she moved to London, where she currently resides. Speranța started composing music at the age of nine. Nocturne op. 9 no. 1 and Nocturne op. 9 no. 2 by Frederic Chopin was the first nocturnes she heard, and they quickly became her favourite pieces of piano music. Frederic Chopin’s music had a big impact on her love for composition and for piano, thanks to his melancholic and melodic style.
In April 2020, Speranța released her first piano singles: Night and Woe, Heartbeat of Midnight, Sound of my Soul and Le Vicomte Waltz. Le Vicomte Waltz is the first waltz she composed. It was inspired by the Palace of Vaux-le-Vicomte and the Palace of Fontainebleau in France. They impressed her so much that the melody of Le Vicomte Waltz started playing in her head whilst she was visiting them. Seeing both palaces’ ballrooms, imagining how years ago, people were dancing waltzes there; the amazing view of the gardens from the top of the Palace of Vaux-Le-Vicomte; the horseshoe stairway of the Palace of Fontainebleau – these inspired her to compose Le Vicomte Waltz. We decided to do an exclusive interview Speranta..
What inspired you to get into music?
I’m not really sure what inspired me to get into music, but since I can remember myself I always wanted to be a musician. I remember that I kept asking my parents for over a year to buy me a piano and let me go to study piano at a conservatoire. Since then, I always played piano and I started composing music since I was 9 years old.
How would you describe your music?
Most of my songs are melancholic piano pieces in classical genre. I don’t know why, but I guess is because I always liked Frederic Chopin music.
What would you say is your recording and song writing style?
It depends, sometimes, I play random notes on the piano and the melody suddenly starts playing in my head. Sometimes is happening whilst I’m doing any other things, like walking, reading, watching movies etc.
Where would you like to see your music career in 5 years time?
I’m not sure where I would like to see my music career in 5 years’ time. But, I’m sure that I want to release my debut piano album by the end of this year, so I’m working hard on it.
Where can music fans listen your music?
